Palm TX Running Slow

The title says it all.

IT RUNS SLOW... unusually slow, somethings wrong. It wasnt always like this only recently. I think there is a MASSSSIIIIVVVEEEE memory leak somewhere, the whole thing is going kaa-plonk.

Now this is where the main delays are, opening Arvale and changing songs in Pocket Tunes [Deluxe] (Note: changing songs takes around 2-3 seconds + this only happens when crossfading).
Turn crossfading off the music changes as normal.
Crossfade Prefs: Memory required (for 10 secs) 1728K, memory available 4783K.
No problems there. I have noticed that the memory available drops a lot ( approx. 2000K) after using it for a while, soft reset fixes that.

Now this is WEIRD. While listening to music, Crossfade set to 10 secs, run TCPMP, check speed... 396MHZ?! WHAT THE! I'll pop some not so good quality pictures here.

This one is after a soft reset and no longer playing PT.

Personally i dunno WHAT is going on but never the less it's weird. It seems other people are having problems with their TX's as well. Other than this little 'mis-hap' the TX is so far all good.

My goodness... i just noticed something else, a half a second stutter around 10 secs into a song right after the previous one finished.

Let's just edit this for the 6000th time, NO OVERCLOCKING WAS USED!

Have you installed any new software recently? As usual, the best way to find out if it is a software issue is to do a hard reset, test the speed, install each of your third-party applications one-at-a-time, and wait for the problem to occur again.

But how come it's clocking up at 516Mhz? (like a Dell X50, same processor i guess).

Nevertheless if it is running at 516Mhz, i can safely say my Palm averages at LEAST 400Mhz.

I just dont understand what's going on....

I am assuming Arvale is a game, and I don't have it so I cannot try tis on my T|X. Furthermore I am only running the bundled version of PocketTunes. I have been listening to music and Podcasts almost all day (while working of course :-) ). I have not noticed any loss in free memory.

Since the problem seems to managest itself when changing settings in PocketTunes, I would suspect it to be the problem and not likely to be the game. If you wanted to test this, you can remove PocketTunes Deluxe and re-install the bundled version from the CD and try it in concert with Arvile. If you don't have the problem then reinstall the Deluxe version and retest again to see if the problem re-occurs.

Cheers,
John

Correcto!! Don't believe there's ever been a 500MHz Palm (LifeDrive?).

That's a strange one. Maybe it's from an evil planet.

Nope, I don't think so. This is strange, indeed. Maybe Palm introduced some auto OC'ing features that are invoked when necessary? ...probably not: surely it would have been reported long ago in that case.

Palm OS is starting to sound more and more like WM with memory leaks and what-not :(

Have you hard reset yet?

Who me?
No :p

i'm not too crash hot on the idea, i just got everything loaded on.
I was acctually wondering whether someone else could test this out and see what it says.
You know this is the same processor used in the X50V? (612Mhz)
Maybe Palm have taken up the 'stepping' speed thing like on PPC.
Maybe it is from an evil planet, although faster is better i guess :p

Just out of curiousity i just had a look at TCPMP again and it's the first time i've seen 312Mhz, while just idleing.

Before i go hard reseting i want to get some more people to try it out.

Thanks guys.
