Palm rolling technique help for dreading?

i have a two strand twist in for two weeks and they look the same..i was gunna start palm rolling is that cool? if so do i need to use some product? i heard to avoid washing my hair for the 1st while so i havent..if not how should i wash my hair yesterday my scalp felt really dry and itchy but i put oil in it and now it feels fine
