Palm Pre vs. Samsung Moment

I just signed up with Sprint and got a Palm Pre a few days ago. I've been playing with the phone for a while and so far I am really enjoying it, but then again it's my first smartphone.

Anyway, I'm still within my 30-day return period at Best Buy and I'm starting to think maybe I should have gotten the Moment instead. I think the Pre's webOS is the better software and I find the Android OS to be a bit less user-friendly, but when I actually used one today, it seemed so much nicer. The keyboard is much bigger and easier to use. The screen is larger. Not to mention it is on a platform with a much brighter future than the Pre. I feel like I could deal with Android's quirks since the phone's hardware is better, especially since the Moment will eventually be getting an upgrade to Android 2.x in a few months anyway.

Has anyone here used both phones? How do they compare once you've used them for a while? And lastly, how much of a hassle is it to switch phones through BB? I know I am allowed to do that if I wish but swapping from a Pre to a Moment (and possibly back to the Pre if I don't like the Moment after a few days) might be a lot of trouble too.

Android is very user friendly once you get to know it. WebOS is pretty though.. and the Moment doesn't have as much processing power as the Pre and it's still on 1.5 but I think you might be happier with the Moment, Android shows lots of promise.

Wait, I just realized... if I go in and swap the Pre for a Moment, they just do an ESN swap, right? Maybe I'll have to try it out after all. When I first got the Pre, there were a lot of extra steps involved because I had to port my number, but I guess they won't have to do that for subsequent visits.

I guess I have nothing to lose. Much as I like the Pre I want to try out the Moment so I don't wonder what I was missing for the next two years. No reason I can't just go back to the Pre.

well do they let you leave the pre, use a moment, then go back to the pre? i mean is there a limit? i'm sure you can't just switch phones and go thru every phone they possibly sell. so double check that its ok to do it first.

I'll definitely talk to them first and see if they're cool with me doing up to two exchanges. The Pre and the Moment are the only two I'm stuck between so I won't be switching over and over again. I've always heard that BB has a very permissive return/exchange policy in the first 30 days but of course I'll check anyway.

I have the Moment and it is great!! The best thing is the apps (to me) and from what I read, the processor is actually faster than the Pre (wikipedia clocks the Pre at 600Mhz and the Moment is 800Mhz).

The phone is great and the physical keyboard (this is my second smartphone) is great because you have 3 to work with...a big physical one, a virtual landscape and virtual portrait keyboard. I use whatever one I am in the mood for haha.

Android 2.1 is supposed to be able to support Flash lite (and 2.1 is supposed to be updated to the Moment before the end of the 1st qtr).

Either phone is great I am sure. Maybe someone else has tried both but I don't think you can go wrong on the Moment.

Processor speeds don't factor into this, different architectures. Both paltforms get updates pretty regularly with improvements in each successive update. Will recommend android though, cos the app situation looks brighter on that front. Even though i think webos is better.

WebOS 1.4 out and it's nice. People reporting improvements in speed, stability and battery life.

IMO WebOS has a nicer interface and feature set than Android, its the only OS that can stand up to Android in its features, flexibility and notification abilities.

But Android is getting 10X more apps daily, the Moment seems to be a more solid piece of hardware, with a brighter screen to boot. Just my opinion I would pick the Moment, but decide on what you feel like after handling the two phones. Interested on the feedback.
