palm pre black screen help!!!!!!!?

The screen of my palm pre has gone completely black the phone is on but the screen is just black this happened b4 i used to just flip the phone up and down until the screen turned on and i would press the unlock and lock button...im getting a new one but until then i need a temporary solution has this happened to anyone else and if it has what other methods did you use to try and get the screen on again
