Palm Pixi question - Verizon parts on AT&T phone?

I currently have a AT&T phone with a non-functioning digitizer (touchscreen). Every other component works perfectly. My question is whether a part from a Verizon phone will work when installed on my AT&T phone. The portion that accepts the SIM card would still be the original AT&T part, I would just cannibalize a Verizon phone for the front screen/digitizer.

Also, please do not suggest I just purchase a different phone. I have my reasons for wanting to do the repair myself:
I like the Pixi too much to consider any other model of phone.
It functions perfectly besides being unresponsive to taps (i.e. power button, keyboard, volume control and LCD are fine).
Another Pixi (new or used) for the AT&T network is between $80 and $115, while a used Verizon phone is around $35.
The part I need (the digitizer) is not for sale anywhere else on the web, that I can find.
I have already successfully disassembled and reassembled my phone, so I know that I can do this replacement easily.

I am tempted to go ahead and try this, I just wanted to know ahead of time if someone knows that this will definitely not work. I don't want to waste money... Thanks for your time!
Also, I already tried going through AT&T for a replacement. Unfortunately, the liquid indicator sticker had been activated, and thus my warranty was voided. Grr!
Marvelous! I'll go ahead with the repair, then. Thank you so, so much for answering my question.
