Palm Pixi Plus - Airplane mode help?

I have a Palm Pixi Plus (o2 - UK). I turn my phone on airplane made because it saves battery life.

How do I turn off 3G/EDGE/GPRS mode?

Or Is it possible to text/phone with airplane mode?
