Palm 4.2 with Win 7?

I got a new computer a few months ago with Win 7. I am trying to remember, but I think I upgraded to Palm Desktop 6 for bluetooth compatibility and syncs. I don't like it without the color categories, lack of purging duplicate entries etc. Now my Palm has gone and I sync a Galaxy S with companionlink to my Palm Desktop 6. I can sync (with Wi-fi) with Desktop 4. So my question is, does anyone know about this, will 4 run on a 64 bit version of Win 7. Can I run the two versions at once to begin with to see if it will work? How do I save data if it works?

Thanks

The only way to sync with a 64bit system is using wifi sync, bluetooth sync or ir sync if that will even work for you. I know of people using the desktop versions of 4 and 6 doing this. If your windows 7 version is pro or above you can use microsofts XP mode and then the drivers will work for a cable hotsync. If not you can also run a type of virtual machine for this or have two operating systems on your computer to accomplish a cable hotsync.

I am currently doing wifi and it works ok. I know there are no usb drivers for 64 bit, but I take it the desktop software will run okay aside from the lack of usb drivers. Next question, where can I get a copy of 4.2?

You can't. It was only available on the CD that came with the TX. You can download a generic 4.X desktop from Palm that should work OK, I think, but I'm not sure. You may have to go with PD 6.2 for anything Vista or beyond. I still use XP (and no longer use Palm desktop) so I'm not sure.

I'm guessing NO, because of the way Vista played badly with 4.2. After Win XP, using the newer Desktop was necessary.

I could be wrong; shocking, I know. ;)
