Painting Plastic Kits?

I'm a beginner in plastic kits and at the moment I have a Hind D plastic kit from Trumpeter

Question is how can i paint the helicopter so that is looks realistic. What equipment would i need like a brush?
If you know some companies that sells paints and equipments for model kits, can you mention them please?

equipment: brush, plane duhh, something to ensure tht u dont paint in the wrong areas (even u could use masking tape)
companies: try bunnings or dulux
dulux specialise in paints
