I was told this past weekend that the reason the paint on my motorcycle tank is starting to chip around the gas cap is because the fumes from the gas tank have gotten into the paint and is causing it to chip. I dont want this to continue, however I dont have the money to get the whole tank replaced. I dont think sealing the gas cap with a weld stuff that will not allow the fumes to come out will do any good at this point. Is there any type of something I can put just around the tank where it is chipping to stop the spread? Please someone let me know what to do. Thanks!
