I am a 39 year old female in good health and I have a lump/knot on the left side of my chest that has been bothering me off and on for over a year. The lump is located on the left side of my chest about 2 inches away from my sternum and it's about an inch and a half in diameter. It doesn't move when pressed, but it sure does hurt if I press it! It also occasionally causes a dull ache that will last for days. I did see a doctor about a year ago who ruled out breast cancer, and a chest x-ray came back normal. She did lots of blood work and all of that was normal, too. She also said it was too far away from the sternum to be costochondroitin. I moved across country and didn't pursue the issue with a new doctor, but the lump seems a bit bigger now and the pain is more persistent. Any ideas on what it might be?
