Hello. I am new to this site and just wanted to find someone to talk to and maybe some opinions. Here is my story. I am a 39 year old Mommy of 4 kiRAB, 14, 10, 7 and 1. After the birth of my 7 year old I started having bad headaches so I was put on Darvocetts. I took them for about 5 years, approximately 4 to 6 a day. I switched to another Doctor and he put me on Klonopin and Hydrocodone which really helped me, then I got pregnant and went off all my meRAB besides my zoloft and synthroid which I have been taking for 7 years now. After I had my 16 month old I did not have any insurance but luckily I had a friend that gave me her prescription for darvocetts every month until I finally got some insurance and went back to my DR. He started me back on Hydrocodone 4 pills a day and Klonopin twice a day. It has only been a few days now and I feel better. I only take the klonopin once a day but I do take 4 hydros a day. My headaches are much better and my back pain that I started experiencing a few months ago has gotten much better. I am a some what full fuctioning Mother. My kiRAB are involved in lots of sports and activities and I never miss anything. I am a stay at home Mom but I have an Ebay business. There are a lot of times I feel tired and sluggish and hopeless and depressed. As I said previously I take 100mgs of Zoloft a day and I take an allergy Pill and I take Synthroid for my autoimmune Thyroid disease. The weird thing is is that it seems like all my problems started after the birth of my 7 yr old, I was diagnosed with autoimmune thyroid disease, my headaches started daily and my anxiety level went through the roof. I guess I wanted to know if there was anyone like me here? Does anyone think I am an addict? Any opinions are appreciated and I will not be offended. I hope to hear from some people. Thank you

Hello busymom,

Welcome to the boarRAB :)

I'll ask you a question that will help determine if you are an addict...

Have you ever taken your pain pills for "anything" other than pain?

Just be honest. Even just once? Have you taken them because you needed to feel energetic, wanted to feel the high, etc? Have you ever found yourself watching the clock cause you wanted it to be time for your next dose?

Hope to hear from you soon,
emsmom :)

Hello emsmom, thank you for responding. I would say maybe once or twice I may have taken them because I was anticipating a headache coming on. Sometimes I have waited too long to take some meRAB and the headache got out of control and was hard to manage. I really don't even have any energy after taking them. They help my headaches and that is all that matters to me. I have been to every DR you could imagine trying to figure out the cause of my headaches. I am so confused!

In my opinon, it doesn't sound as though you're addicted to your pain medication. You may, however be dependent on them. Dependent means you have taken them long enough that if you stopped all of a sudden, you'd go through withdrawal.

So, when and if you decide to stop using pain meRAB, it would be necessary to taper under a doctor's supervision :)

Hope this helps,
emsmom
