Pain in upper calf muscle...

Heyas,

New to the forums here. Hopefully I've posted this in the correct place.

The last few weeks I've had a dull ache in my left calf while jogging, which I really could not pin point to a specific local in my calf. After playing a game of softball yesterday the upper portion of my calf (close to my knee) is a bit swollen and aches pretty bad. The top right portion of my left calf is sore to the touch, I mean very tender! I also cant seem to flex my calf muscle...not nearly as much as I can my right. From time to time when I do try to flex my claf muscle I feel a strange pop somewhere behind the kneww and down a bit. While sitting still there is a slight ache and throbbing, but most of the discomfort happens when I stand up and start walking around. I've actually never felt pain like this before. Do I need running new shoes? Does this sound more like a sports related injury and should I give it a few days before contacting my Dr.?

Thanks for the help! :D

I would get it checked out. It could be a bloot clot. You certainly have the symptoms. A blood clot is nothing to fool around with, so get it checked out today.

Let us know how it works out!

How did you end up? I'm experiencing the same thing...has come on while training to run a 5K, also have varicose veins on that leg, so blood clot has crossed my mind too.

yup you should try to have it examined by professional doctors first for you to know what it is and for you to know what to do next.

It would be a bad idea if you just observe it without having it examined.

Hi

Did you manage to sort your problem out? I seem to have the exact same symptoms as you - sore calf muscle to the top and I can sometimes feel a clicking sensation behind my knee. Also, my hamstring aches if I have been sitting down for any length of time. I did the injury whilst dancing back in January and my whole leg was completely stiff for days and days but now I'm left with a sore calf muscle and discomfort to hamsrting. I'm currently seeing a physio for a strained hamstring where I have been told to swim, walk and do gentle stretches 3 times a day but everytime I excercise, it seems to make my soreness to the calf muscle worse. Any suggestions from you or anyone else?
