That is a very good question!
I am a 63yo male and in April 2008 I had a fusion L3-L4, when they opened me up the discovered some pieces of vertebrae one of which was stuck to the front side of the Dural, after slowly working on it the surgeon managed to remove it but created a small tear which he tried to patch.
About 3wks. Post surgery I began having severe pain in my right leg and was sent for a myelogram where it was discovered I had about 250 millimeters of fluid had leaked out so went back in for a second surgery to have I removed.
After the second surgery I started having pain in my tailbone area, the pain is worsened
by especially sitting but also by standing and or walking and my surgeon has no Idea what is causing it. The only way to eliminate the pain is to lay down for a while and even that doesn’t seem to help like it use to. The fusion has healed just fine and X-rays and an MRI show everything is ok!? I have seen a spine surgeon and he says the pain will go away in time but can’t say how much time. I think it is worth noting he was paid by Worker Comp. so I take his findings with a grain of salt so to speak. I have spoken to my reg. doctor who feels the spinal fluid may have caused some damage to the nerves.
In any case I bring this up in the hope someone else has had a similar experience but has found a solution.
If I could afford it I and thought it would help I would be willing to have them open me up and fix the problem!, this is not how I want to spend the rest of my life so any input would b greatly appreciated. Thx...Wes
