Pain in sides of pelvis

I admit I've had this odd aching and pain in the sides of my groin for about six years, and every time it flares up, I wonder what exactly it is. Within the last few months, it seems to accompany my periods (the aches began again the same month my period changed from heavy to light)...the dull aching will usually begin a day or two before my period begins, lasts through the entire cycle, and then stays a couple of days after said period has ended. I will also get the occasional stabbing pain in the left side of my groin for no reason. The dull ache tends to spread out to my hips and sometimes down my thighs, producing a slightly numbed feeling.

I have no insurance and can't see a doctor, so I've been doing what most broke sick people do by trying to self-diagnose for peace of mind. I was thinking I might have ovarian cysts since I do seem to have a few of the symptoms and because the pain is right over the areas where my ovaries would be, but then I found out about pain of the round ligaments and it sounds exactly like what I have. The thing is that pain is only present with pregnancy, and I am not pregnant. I also have no fevers, my clothes all still fit (so no noticeable weight gain or excessive bloating), no nausea or vomiting and no abnormal bathroom habits except sometimes I feel that shooting pain in the left side of my pelvis when trying to use the restroom.

Has anyone else ever felt this kind of aching? I really have no idea what's going on.
