Pain in right leg and thigh

I have been experiencing pain mostly in my right leg starting from the top of my thigh usually down to my knee, but sometimes all the way down to my foot.

It began happening on and off a for a couple of months, and usually once I'd get up and walk about it'll soon go away, however for the past couple of days it hasn't gone away at all, and has been very uncomfortable sleeping at all.

My boyfriend sometimes massages it which makes it feel a lot better, which makes him assume that it is something to do with bad circulation? If so, is there any way I could find this out for certain without going to the Doctors? and any ways to help ease my pain and make sleeping easier?

Any ideas will help. Thank you.

I don't think it's circulation, it sounds like nerve pain. And that type of pain comes from your lower back, around the L4/5 level. Try sleeping on your back with several pillows uner your knees to take the presure off of your back and to elevate your legs some.

ahh123: check into seeing if it's the sciatica nerve. Do you walk alot? If so, walking will aggravate it. How about seeing a chiropractor?

92261, I do walk a fair amount, I live on top of a hill which I have to walk up and down if I wanna get anywhere due to lack of a frequent bus. What would happen if it was the sciatica nerve? Is it bad?

ahh123: I think alot of people live with siatica nerve pain. A friend of mine just had to have her back (lower) operated on and she said it started with sciatica nerve pain. She was seeing a chiropractor and it didn't end up helping and she opted for the operation. I don't really know alot about it. Look it up on the web and maybe someone else can explain it for you. I know it has something to do with pressure on the discs in the lower back.
