pain in abdomen, right side

i am a 33 year old male, and have recently developed a constant pain in my right side under my rib cage. it had been occasional for the last several months, but has become constant as of about 1-2 months ago.

i read some info online and figured maybe it had something to do with my gall bladder/liver. i changed my diet and took a supplement for about 2 weeks but that did not help.

i recently visited a walk-in clinic to have it checked out. the doctor looked at me for about 5 minutes, asked me a few questions and scheduled an untrasound and blood work to be done.

the blood was taken that day, and came back fine. two days later i had the untrasound which also came back fine.

i am now wondering if it might be a torn muscle or something in there.

any recommendations? i don't have a regular physician. that would probably be a good place to start i suppose.

thanks!

My first guess would have been gall bladder. Yes, maybe you are pulling a muscle. Depending on exact location, perhaps some kind of cramping going on in the intestines (how's your fiber intake?).

It wouldn't be a bad idea to get established with a regular primary care physician. If you are like most of us, 40 is about the time one starts to notice that their body is not immortal. So it wouldn't hurt to have a track record of several years of test results in one place before then.

thanks for the feedback.
my fiber intake is good. i am also vegetarian, and usually don't eat deep fried foods. though, i have wine in the evenings nearly every night. which is one reason i had thought about my liver/gall area.
i don't exercise regularly, but i do ride my bicycle to and from work when the weather is warmer. the pains initially began early fall of last year, when i was still riding. perhaps i pulled something while riding up hill? i'm not sure.
i will look into establishing a physician soon.
thanks again.

Having a little wine in the evening won't cause damage to your liver, unless the wine is taken in excess.

It most likely is just a sore muscle. Put some ice on it, and let it heal naturally. Don't over use it.
