Pain at back shoulder blade

Every time i breath in deeply i get pain atbottom of right shoulder blade, i smoke & my dad died of asbestosis & my brother has jsut been diagnosed with it, should i get it checked out???
 
can you tell me how your dad AND your brother ended up having asbestosis? i am just curious since this is not a normal thing to actually get unless you are in a particular type of environment. my father ended up with it as a result of working in a refinery all his life and everything they used as a fire retardent way back when was just covered with asbestos. do they know where they got this from? FB
 
Hiya, My dad worked on a heavy gang working directly with asbestos making sacks in a company called Cape Boards he only wokred there from 1963 to 1968 & died in 1990 at 56 years, regarding by brother the docs say my dad could have bought fibres home on clothes etc or he was a keen fisherman & fished close by the Cape Boards, my mum was tested for it way back in 1983 when my dad was diagnosed & she's clear but we were never tested, theres 4 of us, my father- in-law also has it, he got it from the navy, its a terrible disease & i'm not sure wether to get checked out or not as prob better off not knowing & nothing they can do anyway is there???? just an FYI here for ya,but my father,many years ago was in on a class action law suit that was brought forth against the actual manufacturers of the asbestros products used in that refinery. they were successful. i would assume there are others who were with your father working that also have ended up with this condition as well? and some of their family members? has anyone contacted a lawyer about this to see bout bring legal action to at least pay for medical expenses incurred in the treatment/monitoring of this?

just an idea for you if this has not yet been done. i would get myself checked out if i were you since your brother also ended up with this. you just need to know. it does scar the lungs and can cause alot of medical expenses as time goes on. i seriously would contact a lawyer about bring a class action lawsuit against whoever manufactured the asbestos and the company your dad worked for.

the pain that you are having could really be from sooo many other things that i really would just get THAT symptom itself evaluated and while there,mention that history and see what your doc thinks. but pain in the shoulder blade is common with many different conditions or problems,even within your spine,or the rotator cuff within the shoulder itself too. sorry i can't be of more help to you. good luck and please keep me posted.
