I had a modified brostrom surgery done on my left ankle about 1.5 years ago. I had ankle instability and chronic pain in the medial side of my ankle. Surgery went well and I had a fairly quick "recovery.". However, I'm still having some pain in the medial part of my ankle it's different from the pain I had pre-surgery. I wear orthotics in both shoes and had the left one adjusted, however I'm still having pain. I get pain the most when wearing my birkenstock sandals, so I avoid wearing those. Even wearing shoes with my orthotics causes pain. Sometimes the pain is when I'm walking and sometimes it occurs at the end of the day. This is getting really frustrating and I don't know what to do. I went back to my surgeon and he didn't seem to "get" what I was saying. Should I go see a PT? Try the surgeon again or see my family doctor? Help! Thanks!
