O k, so i need a little advice, i am 9 mos post micro-d /laminectomy on L4/5,
and for the past few weeks, iv'e been geeting leg and ankle pain again. I have not been getting major back pain, just some soreness, but i am so worried i will need another surgery. I did have another mri done yesterday, and waiting on the results. Does anybody know what could cause this pain 9 months later? Has anybody had this happen to them? It is ankle pain, some knee pain, and big toe pain. It makes me want to screem!!! It's hard to take it easy with a very active 3 year old at home!!!:dizzy:

Thanks to all

Sometimes after a micro-d/laminectomy depending on the size of disc taken out it can create instability in the area. The disc doesn't have the same strength anymore and can re settle. I had that happen to me at L-4/L-5 and had one micro-d and a couple of years later endoscopic discectomy, with nucleoplasty. The nucleoplasty hardens the disc and gives it a better chance to stabilize the area. I wish the technology was out when I had to have my first discetomy.

Thanks for the reply,
I didn't have the disc taken out, they shaved the oozing materiel, but kept the disc in tact as the doc said the rest of the disc was healthy, but :eek:This ankle pain is killing me!!!

Where in the ankle is it killing you? Is it on the inside, outside, is it there all day, does it change, anything make it better or worse? Also you said you had some knee pain, does that happen when you have the big toe pain and the ankle pain? In what position do you sleep? Sometimes after a surgery, after the initial pain has subsided, we return to some habits that are not good. You could be having some of these symptoms based upon irritation of the piriformis muscle that will put pressure on your sciatic nerve and then you can experience knee and ankle pain.

Hi,
In response to your question, i have ankle pain inside and outside, usually all day, resting makes it better. The big tor pain is there sometimes, and the knee pain comes and goes. How do i get rid of the irritation of the piriformis muscle?
