They should charge you additional 10% or whatever those coinstar counters charge plus milage and time to get there and back. It's great you can ride w your Dad but maybe you should have split the fine and paid it w a check.

Wow, I can't believe so many people can get so fired up about this, especially the pennies! Glad you and your dad get to spend time like that together, that's the important kind of stuff in life.

In California, the state, counties and cites are pretty much bankrupt. If we're going to pay government employees to do a certain job, it seems like a real waste of time and money to pay an employee to count 47 lbs. of pennies because someone paying a fine (that they deserved, no less) wanted to get even and thinks it's funny. My complaint is that it is a total waste of financial resources that we don't have in most states right now.

Personally I would rather have my city/county clerk counting pennies rather then sitting there watching youtube videos half the day. They are getting paid whether there is anything to do or not, so might as well have them working on city/county business, no matter how mundane it is.

As RumRunner was saying, I seriously doubt your government employees are utilizing their time most efficiently anyway, but that's a very civic minded observation by you. Personally I bet California would be thrilled to death to get 47lbs of pennies to count because they are bankrupt, beggars can't be choosers if you ask me.

You're from Texas, and it is not so hard to make some BIG money down there, lmao. Just have to be willing to bend a few laws, and not get caught, lol.

(PS, I got caught, lol)

They just turned this payment down, so tell us, did they accept yours or send it back? Or just confiscate it, then bill you again?

(I think their math is wrong, it should only be 3,400 pennies to pay $34)
