Nope,, not at all, infact it takes the picture of the rear of the vehicle, to get the plate number,,,,,
Like mentioned above, they go after the registered owner, unless the vehicle is reported stolen. They figure you will know who is driving it at any given time..
Don't get me wrong, I don't like them, nor approve of them, nor feel they are legal. But that is just how it works in Missouri.
I have beaten one though, the only one I have received!
I was turning "Right on the red" in my wifes car. They also post a video of you on a website you can go to when you get the ticket in the mail.
I did come to a VERY NEAR complete stop.. but not for any 3-4 seconds,
I went to the Station where I got it from, had an officer look at it with me, I asked him,,
"Sir, if you were setting across from me, or even behind me when I did that. Would you have given it a second look?"
He said, I doubt it,,, I asked how to "Fight" it, he told me to take this form, send it in with an explanation and the Prosecuting Atty would review it. I got a letter a few weeks later saying it was thrown out.
The companies that run these things, review the footage first, if they see anything they send it to the city that it belongs to. Then they have a "Motor officer" do a further review of it to issue the citation.
I know that the companies are going to send EVERYTHING they can muster, because they get a "Cut" of the take..... and maybe some of the reviewing officers are less than diligent in taking out the questionable ones?
