PagePlus Vs. Verizon prepaid in PA

Hi,

I have been with verizon wireless on the standard plan for more than 2 years now. However, I never use my allowed minutes and I am looking to cut down my expenditures by switching to prepaid wirless service.

Here is the question:

What do you guys think of Switching to Verizon Wirless prepaid Vs. to page plus? I know that I can take my number with me to page plus free of charge and it seems that pageplus does not enforce a daily usage as in verizon, and if the free per day use verizon plan is more expensive than pageplus per minute rate? I am not even sure that I can switch to verizon prepaid from the standard plan.

Any ideas? any good reason why should I use verizon over pageplus? do you guys recommend any other options in PA?

Thanks

Well, there's a few things you should know before switching.

PagePlus is a MVNO provider. This means they do not build their own network...they rely on other carriers who already have a network up and run. PagePlus actually uses Verizon's network.

Verizon Wireless has more prepaid options than ANY other prepaid carrier. They actually offer AT LEAST four options for you. Three include a daily access fee while one does not.

PagePlus is actually VERY expensive. $25 for 300 minutes! Verizon Wireless doesn't operate on a "this card gives you this many minutes" system. It all depends on the plan you choose and if you wish to do other things like internet and text messaging.

Verizon Wireless Plans:

**Daily access fees only charged on days you use your phone for voice calls. Text messaging does not trigger the daily access fee.

Unlimited Talk-$3.99 daily access

  • $0.01 per text message sent/received
  • Includes unlimited calling to anyone, any number within the United States.
INPulse Plus-$1.99 daily access

  • Unlimited Mobile To Mobile
  • Unlimited Nights and Weekends
  • $0.05 for each additional minute
  • $0.05 per text message sent/received
INPulse Core-$0.99 daily access fee

  • Unlimited Mobile to Mobile Calling
  • $0.10 per minute for nights and weekends
  • $0.10 for each additional minute
  • $0.10 per text message sent/received
Basic-No daily access fee

  • $0.25 per minute, anytime...to anyone in the United States.
  • $0.20 per text message sent/received

They also have texting plans available. $10 per month automatically subtracted for Mobile To Mobile messaging (for free) and $20 for unlimited to anyone.

With PagePlus, they offer a variety of plans also. Some have daily access fees while some do not. If you want unlimited Nights and Weekends, you will be paying $0.99 daily access EVERY day, even when you do not use your phone. Persoanlly, I don't think page plus is all that.

Thanks nick. One final clarification. When the plan says "# Unlimited Mobile to Mobile Calling" it means verizon mobile to verizon mobile or across any carriers. Also under this option, INPulse baisc and core, what does " additional minute" means? Does it mean call to land mobile or 1-800 number or to other non verizon mobiles?

Thanks again. I can see that pageplus is cheaper only in the "Basic-No daily access fee" as its rate is around 6-12 cent per minute which is 50% to 75% cheaper than verizon in this category.

for the record, verizon told me that they had much cheaper plan that the standard 40$ one , which ended up accumulating to 48$ after tax and other fixed charges. Their plan is 25$ per month (which thy say will be no more that 30$ after all additions and stuff. It is 100 minuted during peak time and 500 minutes on nights and weekends.
