Paganism history books?

I'm interested in learning about paganism but I really want to get a good understanding first of its origins.
Can someone recommend some good books that explain the history of paganism.
I have the book "The origins of modern witchcraft" by Ann Moure, but I read some reviews online that there were a lot of things in the book that were not accurate and that the author made up some things. So I think I'll leave that for later.
First I'd like to get a good understanding.

Get a PhD in anthropology to get a *good* understanding. You can start by reading "Pagans and Christians" by Robin Lane Fox. It's a straight history book about the relationship between the 2 groups in the 1st few centuries CE.
