Does P90x work with gaining muscle mass? Or does it only help you to lose it?

5"10 and I'm hoping to try to gain 10-20lbs of muscle
Would p90x do help with that? Or should I just go to the gym 3-4 times a week?
Also, would mixing the work outs help? Like 3 days a week go to the gym, and the rest do the cardio work outs?
&& What Vitamins & Supplements would help with gaining this mass for my age?
