Oxford University ... to apply or not to apply?

If you are considering another school, this is the time to go and tour the campus. Don't just make a judgement on if you can get in or not, or what it looks like from the website. Also, you can always apply and then if you want to go you can, if not then go to a different school.

Okay well I'm applying to go to university this year and I am considering Oxford. I have the grades I need so it means I could apply and possibly stand a chance of getting in, but of course it all comes down to the interview.
I guess my main problem is - I don't know how much I actually want to go there. I think if I was to go somewhere else I could enjoy it more, have more fun, meet more people and maybe get a better degree at the end of it.
On the other hand I think it's "Oxford University" people don't just say no to oxford uni. And just suppose I did get in, it would only be for 3 years of my life and at the end of it all I would have a degree from Oxford.

I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has faced the same sort of dilemma or went to Oxford and can tell me a bit about the social aspect of it. Coz I've heard that it's so much work and so there is very little social time. And I really want to have gone to University having had both a good time and of course learnt a lot - not just having spent 3 years writing essays in the library.

Thanks
