Ovi Suite Data Connection speeds

I wasn't getting much response from my cell provider forum so I figure may I can ask here. It might be more an Ovi Suite thing anyways

Anyways, when I tether I'm only getting 468kbps connect speed (as per ovi suite notification)

I thought this was a limitation of my N97mini and it was that speed in Vancouver and Montreal.

Now with the N8, it still only reports 468kbps, is there something I'm doing wrong? It feels ok for anything I really need to do but just that the reported connected at speeds seems awfully low and I thought it would for sure be higher on the N8 compared to N97mini.
 
You're using Windows? Don't believe the numbers it shows you in those balloon popups from the sysem tray. Those numbers are next-to-meaningless.

Try a speed test utility instead.
 
I just tested my speed, I disconnected my home network and attached my N8 using USB, logged on using Ovi Suite. I selected 5 different speed test that I found on the web like speakeasy, intel, c-net etc The average download speed was 2.18 Mpbs and the average upload was 1.01. I haven't tethered for a long time and I am impressed with the speed overall. I am on AT&T btw. I am sure T-Mobile is faster.
