I bought the car literally two weeks ago. Its has only 85,000 miles on it. I had been driving it to and from work for the first couple of weeks, my work is only the next town over so literally only a few curvy roads, couple stop lights, and turns. The fastest I could possibly go on my commute to work is 40mph.
Yesterday I went to take it on the highway for the first time, was driving for about 5-8 minutes with highest speeds around 80. The car starts to become unable to accelerate. Glance at the temp gauge and its way high up in the H. Pulled over promptly, white smoke/steam was coming out from under the front of the hood. A couple of my friends popped the hood and found that the radiator/coolant container was bone dry, and some of the fluid had splashed/leaked on to different parts of the engine, thus causing the steam.
However, the car won't start now, just kind of makes a turning-over noise. Had another friend take some cursory glances under the hood, they said it sounds like there's no compression going on in there.
When I bought the car, the only thing listed under 'known issues' in the paper work was 'needs heater core,' so I'm hoping to take this car back to the dealer considering I've only had the car for two weeks and this was the first time I'd taken it on the highway. But in any case, I know I'm going to end up having to drop money in to this car either way....urghhhhh.
Any thoughts on what could be wrong/how much I'm looking at for repairs....soooo frustrating.
