I am studying systems engineering and i told professor i'm sick and i can't show up for midterm exam. I requested make up. He get skeptical of my intentions and said he wants complete medical documentation as to what is restricting me from taking exam. After that he will arrange for make up. So my psychiatrist wrote note that I have depression. Professor said, if that's the case then i should just quit studying altogether and get stuff like depression taken care of first because these kind of things don't work with such classes. I then asked him what is the exam make up date. He said he was withdrawn me from the class and given me W grade. I insisted school policy said for medical illness makeup is required. He said that means physical sicknesses like flu, fever, pneumonia and that kind of stuff and that depression doesn't qualify since depression is not temporary but long term. So he gave me withdrawal from course. I spent $2500 for this course and its all wasted. He acted cruel and mean. Whom do I complain to? Most professor easily arrange makeup with doctor note. He did not
