I thought I had everything covered...then I remembered that in our area...flies are EVERYWHERE in June...I could kick myself.

The date and locale can't change...

I think netting looks tacky...but so does dead flies in your food (gross, I know)...any suggestions?

thank you!!
the "venue" is my backyard...and I do like the idea of the little lights on the netting...is there a bug spray specifically for flies? I could have that available for guests too...

thank you for the suggestions so far- keep 'em coming!

burn citronella candles around the event area. you can also get pretty candle holders to burn on the tables

Those netting things they sell for over kid's beds (they hang from the cieling) work out great to keep flies off the cake and look elegant.

I guess if you are really that opposed to netting you could build a plexi-glass box to put over the cake. Just be really careful when you are removing it.

I've tried putting the citronella candles around the cake. I've found that the smoke retains the citronella stuff and if it blows onto the cake makes it taste kinda funny. Besides that they only work for mosquitos.
