You have a really good list there. My picks would be

I know Why the Caged Bird Sings - I loved this book, thought it was really good, and I've read it several times.

All creatures great and small - a must read for animal lovers

collected stories of edgar allen poe - If you haven't read much of Poe's work then I recommend this. I love Poe and have read most of his stuff. I think you'll find it interesting

the blue sword - good sci fi book, enjoyed it, a light easy read

Wow, you're lucky you have such a big selection! I only get about 3 choices. Go ask alice was a good book, I liked it. I also read The Island but didn't find it quite as interesting. Apparently, hitch hiker's guide to the galaxy is supposed to be a good book, but I haven't read it yet (based on friends' opinions). Some of these sound very interesting. Oh, and John Steinbeck is a good author. I read his book "Of Mice and Men", and it was a great book. Well... it all depends on your opinion of a good book. I hope I helped though. Good luck with your choice!

Several from your list are really good books, but I'd recommend Go Ask Alice. It's so honest and thought provoking, and even though it was written a long time ago it's still so popular now.
