Our Jeep broke down! what is wrong?

It started perfectly fine then when we got to the gas station turned it off and got what we needed it would not even start. I had no noise whatsoever coming from the engine it didn't click or anything. Do you know what is wrong? Thank you very much!!!
 
Turn your lights on, try starting your car, if the lights go out, bad battery, if lights stay on, short in starter, thus you say no noise coming from engine at all. Clean battery terminals and then re-install, this may work, if not turn key on and have someone short out your starter, car in park and with brake on, before you do that of course. If it starts you have a bad Solinoid on starter.
 
Maybe the alternator or the starter, I don't think either is too expensive.Good luck!!!
 
Since it broke down in that little amount of time, I doubt its the battery. If your lights dont work, its probably the battery. Could be starter or solenoid. Try starting in park or neutral. This actually happened to a buddy of mine...went to the gas station and couldn't start afterwards. I discovered his problem to be easy to fix. When he put the car in park, it kind of got stuck on reverse, just enough to where the car wouldn't start. We put it in park, and it started. I doubt thats your problem, but just throwing it out there.
 
Ignition or starter relay. Look into that 1st. The clue is that you hear no noise at all. That means there is no electrical connection somewhere. If they're ok, consider a bad starter. Maybe a bad battery.
 
It sounds like an ignition problem. The clicking noise that you usually hear when your battery is dead is the starter trying to turn over the engine. If there is no clicking then the starter isn't turning. This means that your problem is before the starter which is most likely an ignition problem.
 
I had to change the module that was located on the driver side fender. It was responsible for the firing order I think. When mine wouldn't start, I just hit it lightly with a hammer. When I finally replaced it, it worked fine.
