Our Dodge Durango has an error code of..?

It's the Gas Cap ....you have to make sure it clicks tight....the dealer should rest it for free....Or do the following...put the key in the iignition and turn it on without starting the engine. Push the brake pedal down and put the Shifter in nuetral, Then pump the brake pedal 5 times, on the fifth time hold it down and put the shifter in park....don't let up on the brake...shut the ignition off. Then restart the car......
 
P0455 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (gross leak)

Any ideas how to repair without taking it to the shop?
My husband is a retard if it is simply the gas cap...damn him. He just cost me 5 points. (:
