We moved in to my step-dad's house about two months ago. He has a cat. In the beginning he acted spooked, but then he adjusted. Recently(this last week), he's been acting really strange. He comes in from the garage through the cat door, then leaves, then enters, then exits. Last night we had a thunder and lightening storm. He was spooked, so he ran inside the house from the garage. He was acting strange, and when we tried to pet him, he hissed and batted at at our hands, so we put him in the garage for the night. When we went in the garage this morning to check on him, we could hear him meowing, but couldn't see him. We heard the noise coming from up above. He had jumped up to the rafters and got stuck. We tried to get him down, but it was no use, he would move when we tried to help him. He couldn't get down. Then, he fell. OUCH! Well, then the rest of today, he was just quite and stayed in the window seal. Then when my mom started folding the laundry, she shook a pair of pants. That scared the cat. He ran to the bathroom. I had use the restroom, so we shooed him out. He was again hissing, so my mother wanted him out of the house. He hopped onto the couch. My mom lightly tapped his behind. He ran from the couch to the kitchen. Instead of using the cat door to go out to the garage, he jumped up onto the kitchen counters and laid on our cutting board. My mom was furious, so she was yelling at the cat to leave the kitchen. He was hissing at her. I walked over and then my mom made a loud noise. The cat left the kitchen, but also left a small "treat". He pooped on our counter and the cutting board. So, what is wrong with our cat? Being independent and not friendly is one thing, but hissing and batting at anyone who pets him is just rediculus. Anyone know what is wrong?
