who remember those years? I know there were many other years that people were predicting the world would be ending. I know two of them were 1940 and 1988, there were many other years but I forgot.

So when scientists were predicting the world to end in the past, was it as much of an uproar as it was back then? Or was it kind of like it is now?

Idk, it kind of hard to word out I can't think of the right word ];

thanksss

there was a major thing when the millennium came around (2000) and apparently, some people say that the world is going to end on December 12, 2012 (12/12/12) but these are just urban myths.

1984 was the year of Big Brother, based on the book named after the year. Computers were supposed to be the "tool of the devil" in most religious circles.

Y2K was the year the world as we know it was going to end due to a computer programming glitch. Computers were not programmed to read dates beyond 1999. (Prince's awesome party song!!!)

2001 brought us 9/11 when everyone thought that the current world was going to end so people made their own homes air-tight in an effort to keep bacterial warfare at bay, until they found out that their homes were *too* air-tight and they couldn't breathe. (This was actually tried, but then people gave up on that.)

Somewhere in the past 5 years, some people thought that some comet was going to destroy Earth, so they all committed suicide (I think this happened in Cali).

There are now survivalists out there, going about their business just a bit more quietly than before, planning and preparing, just in case.

It is only faith in our economy (not the president or congress) that lets us continue upon our current lifestyle. Our American dollars are just linen, not worth the $$$ it is printed upon.
