My son chose to major in Chemistry or Biology because he had high score in science. He never expressed any interest in anything to do with science as far as careers. His heart and gifts are in music. At graduation he won all the music awards and the HS music scholarship. Also the scholar athlete award amongst some others that he worked hard to achieve.and graduated in the top 10 from a small high school.
My point is he's not doing as well as expected in college and I believe it's because even though he scored high in science in high school (we encouraged (pushed) a science major to insure his financial future) he's not cut out for science. I'm worried about a music career and where he'll be able to find a job that will insure a good financial base. He's mostly performed on the keyboard, trumpet and some other woodwinds as well as sing on the keyboard and loves to compose. next year as a sophomore he'll be the gospel choir director and is excited about it. I've always encouraged him to use his gift but am afraid of his financial future with a music degree. Please tell me what you know about STEADY music careers so I can continue to whole heartedly support his decision. I appreciate your suggestions and knowledge of music.
