ota prl load

browsing around here i have noticed that sometimes people can load up a cricket prl without having to connect to the computer by *228 or a variation of that. Im just wondering what provider that works for or which phones.

Once the cricket prl has been loaded, the majority of the phones I've had have been able to OTA. Rzr's, Rkr's, 2 q's, kyocera remix. Not any one manufacturer or original service provider. But the original prl must be loaded by hand, or technically pc.

nah, as far as I know the prl is what tells it to access cricket instead of verizon, sprint, etc. Until the phone has that info it'll only go to the provider it's already programmed for. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone else will quickly correct me.

i think he is talking about the ota of *2280x to load a cricket prl to a verizon phone with out having to hook it up to the pc. i dotn think you can do anyother provider that way but cricket. is that what you were asking

i tried *22801 and that went to alltel, so seems like if you find the right nuraber it'll work. 04 does nothing and 0x doesn't do anything on any of my phones.

well im in wichita ks, and i had a buddy flash a env for me and when i ota it didnt work and he said just to *22807 i think and it worked. but do you have to program in min and mdn before?

OTA programming

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It seems to me that cricKet has somehow blocked OTA programming. I did an OTA just last Friday for a friend and had no problems. Today another friend took his Treo 650 into the cricKet store and they stated that they couldn't add his phone to their system and that he would have to take it to a satellite store where the tech would flash the phone for him and then activate. I tried to do a *22804 and it failed after it opened the SPL(on the Treo 650), you can see the different steps that the phone is going thru as it is being activated). So has anyone else had thai problem or have heard anything like this?

I have done many OTA's for the above carriers without loading any kind of PRL into the phone by using the hanRABet simple NAM programming (generally MDN/MIN/IMSI/SID)most of the time MDN/MIN aren't needed (I use the actual values if known or some non zero nuraber like 0000001234 for MDN/MIN, IMSI =0, and SID set based on home city for the area code .

I then set network selection to home SID only, then do *228xx, where xx (for example PHX) is 00-Alltel, 01-VZW,02-Sprint ,04 Cricket.

I have succesfully activated many phones this way (maybe 75% of those I have tried) to Alltel, Cricket & VZW.

You never have to connect a cable (as long as the SPC is 000000)

i am in the phx market and i have ota 7 phones a voyager u700 u740 env2 env 8600 and a treo 755p cricket has upgraded there ota and it is doing all phones now i have not had the ota problem i used to have with meiRAB check it out see if you get the same :)

I have done this as recently as last week on both Cricket and VZW,
now not all phones will do this, but I have had good luck with LG's,Sanyo's and Motorola's. But there can be all sorts of other problems with OTA even if you load the PRL. See the OTA thread for more info.

Haven't been able to check Cricket since Friday becuse the Cricket network in my section of Phoenix (Mesa) has been down. see http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?postid=11774513#post11774513 for info about that.
