The "fuzzy fonts" thing is I guess a copycat of Windows 7 translucent
glass theme. It's a little fuzzier in FF than Windows, but it looks the
same. I wouldn't have even noticed if you hadn't specified that.

I use Google Calendar which will text me when I have an upcoming
appointment, Google Search - who doesn't, Chrome - pretty much the
browser of the future, Groups for those times when my news server is
down, Youtube, and a kinda neat game called "Entanglement" - I count 6.
I do have a Gmail account but never use it.

Yet again, I've allowed myself to be sucked into another idiotic Usenet
argument. This time it's "who hates Google more!" I give up - you win. :-)

I'm subscribed to the Mozilla usenet server (Giganews), I can check
myself. It's not so much the fuzzyness unless the window doesn't have
focus, but the color/format clashes with the rest of the bar/window.
It's that awkward 4-tone blue hazy bacgkround that's ugly as hell.

I'd hate to see what these people dress in the morning.

At least in it's "fizzy mode" (window does not have focus), the menu
bar color scheme fits in well with it's background. But when the FF
windows has focus, that menu bar looks out of place due to the
mismatched 3-tone blue color combination.

Too bad. That will drive me crazy. I don't want to reconfigure my

I don't need annoying pictures or naked ladies as the background for
my toolbars. I'll look at different themes, though. I assume they
still have themes, right?

That's not how you disable tabs. That only controls when only 1 tab
is open, whether it shows the bar or not. When two tabs are open, the
tab bar is always shown.

Tabs are disabled using the option I mentioned earlier.

OK, that's BS. The extended archive of Usenet (Deja News IIRC) used to be in
the hands of a very capable entity which was beholden to no one. Google
overran it and took over and now if you want to search or reference anything
in Usenet which has aged off of the nntp servers, you have no choice but to
use Google Groups to find it because they control the only reliable and
comprehensive extended archive.

You're trying to make it sound like using that resource on occasion, which
is sometimes the last and only resort, and which is a pain in the ass to
use, is the same thing as relying on GG for everyday posting and reading.
Surely you know that isn't the case.

Sure it's fast, but with its security concerns, and the unappealing looks makes

Firefox 2.x and 3.x

The first option under "Tabs" is a checkbox "Open new tabs instead of
windows" which would in effect disable tabs. You can also turn off
the tab bar in that same dialog.
