Oscars 2011 Talkback - Short Film (Animated)

So the nominees were announced this morning and we have 5 shorts up for the award.

And the nominees are..

I'm not familair with any of these, so it looks like it's time to hunt them down to watch. Would really be nice if there was someplace online to see the shorts for free. Most of us don't have a snobby film festival or tour come to our area to see these things unless they're in front of a Pixar movie.

Winners will be announced February 27, 2011. check your local listings for channel and time.
 
Only one that I saw was Day & Night, and it was pretty amazing. I'll try to see the rest of them at some point, to be able to be a better judge. But I guess I have to root for Day & Night to win as of now.
 
I got to see Day and Night when I saw Toy Story 3 in theaters. It's the most creative of the Pixar films and I hope it wins.
The only other one on that list that I've seen is The Lost Thing, which I saw at the Animation Show of Shows. It's a cute little film about a guy trying to find a place for some bizarre creature he found on a beach. Not as great as Day and Night though.
 
I've only seen Day and Night, and that was because it was attached to Toy Story 3. While it isn't my favorite of the Pixar shorts produced so far, I thought the combination of 2D and 3D animation was pretty neat. I'll be sure to hunt down the other shorts as well to make a fair call.
 
I've seen all but the Madgascar one, but none really stuck out like last year as amazing as last year winners "Logorama". The most enjoyable was "The Gruffalo" because of it's mainly cute scenario and utterly felt like heart lifting magic.

Though I picture Day & Night winning which wasn't bad either just rather The Gruffalo take it home.
