Just been to see this tonight and thought it was really good (although slightly messed up!)

Nice twist at the end. I thought something else was going to happen, but was proven wrong... :o

Pretty decent horror though, and worth checking out.

I enjoyed this - and nine times out of ten horror films let me down. But this was good!

The twist was brilliant - and believeable too. Really enjoyed this.

I think to make it an even better film they could have dug a little deeper into Esther's character and revealed what made her so mental...

Yeah, good twist at the end! Agree with you too Plutogirl. That would have been a good idea...

Here's what I though the 'twist' was going to be...

I thought she was either going to be a robot or a Russian doll that had come alive 'Chucky style' and gone bad. (Hence the ribbons around her neck and arms)

I expected it to be more to do with supernatural powers (telepathy or telekinesis) rather than straightforward horror. But it was better and funnier than i expected it to be.

I was thinking that the ending was going to be:

The police think that the mother has gone mad and committed all the crimes - and she is shot dead by the police in the final scene;
Max is too traumatised or frightened to be able to tell the truth, or is not believed;
Esther survives and is ready to do lots more mischief with another family in a sequel (a bit like "Omen" I suppose).

I had a feeling that Esther was going to turn out to be older than they thought, but I thought she would only be a teenager not an adult.

I saw it today. It was really good, with a good/disturbing twist. I didn't try and predict the end like others here...

I was VERY worried about Max all the way through - she was so sweet! - which makes a good film if you really care about the characters. 7/10

The funniest thing about this movie is all these pro-adoption groups getting up in arms about it, saying how it will negatively affect people's desire to adopt.

Seriously, if someone makes a decision about adopting a child based on a Hollywood film, they shouldn't be allowed to adopt!! The film is doing a service to the adoption agencies; now they have less idiot wannabe parents to weed out!

Saw it on Saturday - Cineworld tried to project it in widescreen, making everyone look about 3ft wide and 2 ft tall for the frist 8 minutes  - but once they sorted that out, I quite enjoyed it!

I knew there was something odd with Esther of course but I thought maybe she'd been
a child prostitute and escaped from that life.
I certainly didn't guess the actual twist and I don't believe anyone who says they did - I mean, how could you guess that!?

An entertaining 7/10

I have to commend the actress who played Esther , she acted way beyond her years, that scene with her and the dad was the most unsettling thing in a Hollywood movie I've ever seen , I was literally sat there open mouthed at what was going on!

I've been dragged into seeing this on Friday with some frienRAB - I'm terrified already! :o

I'm love/hate when it comes to horrors but I always watch them on DVD in the comfort of my own home where I can pause & fast forward where needed. :o How scary is it?

By going through years and years of having to endure terrible, illogical movie twists and growing to expect the unexpected (or in this case, the stupid)?

Don't worry Hannah, you'll be alright... ;)

It's not so scary as you'll be having sleepless nights or anything, and there's only a couple of jumpy bits - but the scary bit is the way Esther manipulates her family.

You should definitely see it! :)

Weird film.

Nearly walked out after the half hour as I found it really boring. Decided to stay but wasn't really getting into the film one bit. The last 20-30 minutes was good stuff though. As for the twist at the end, brilliant. So glad it wasn't spoiled for me by someone mentioning it beforehand.

I LOVED it, and I can't stand horror movies. It really impressed me.

Great acting, great story, great twist!

Max was so damn cute, bless her.

The girl who played Esther is a little star - she did brilliantly.

I loved the hospital scene, "You little bitch!"....*WALLOP*

Everyone cheered. :)

Absolutely agree.

Still, I really enjoyed this. A very well paced (ie, not made for people with ADHD) film with a modern look and feel but a real 70s thriller/horror tone.

I loved how they used the gory/splatter stuff sparingly, so it really stood out when they did use it.

All of the acting was well above par for the genre, especially the mother, Esther and Max (who was incredible throughout). As others have said, you really did care for the characters - unsual in horror films.

Really a very impressive film and has got me very interested in director Jaume Collet-Serra's next film with Liam Neeson.

Also one of those rare horror films where I left the cinema trying to work out how they could do a sequel as I still think there's a lot of mileage in the concept and main character.
