Organic chemistry: What is the disaccharide formation mechanism?

I need to show an electron pushing mechanism in the formation of a disaccharide from two protected monosaccharides using HCl in the first step and TiCl4 next then finally H2/Pd.
I need to show the reaction mechanism of two hexose monosaccharides joining together to form a disaccharide. In the first step protecting groups are added. In the second step HCl somehow substitutes a Cl atom for one of the protected groups on one of the hexoses. Then TiCl4 somehow links the substituted hexose with the other. The protecting groups are removed with H2/Pd to give the non-protected disaccharide. HELP PLEASE!
