I lived in an apartment for 3 years. On the 31st day after I moved out, I received a letter from the owner that they were going to charge me $300 to paint the apartment. They did not specify that there were any damages to the paint that I would be responsible for, nor was the paint changed in any way during the time I lived there. I thought the landlord was responsible for painting the apartment for a new tenant if the previous tenant live there for at least a year. Can they charge me for this? I've been threatened that they will send this charge to a collection agency.
