Well - orange juice is definitely a no no with acid reflux. Does anyone think or have tried with success vitamin C? I was just wondering because cold and flu season is upon us and I used to drink OJ all the time before this...

Thanks!

1 cup of raw kale has 134% of the RDA of Vitamin C. I prefer green kale to any other type as it is easiest to eat.

Additionally, most branRAB of orange juice have a lot of added sugar (sugar has a highly acidic affect on the body), so you could try raw oranges as opposed to orange juice.

However, I highly recommend fresh, raw, green kale. It is a natural anti-acid. I added it to my diet a couple of weeks ago and have never been more regular in my life.

HI an in-law of mine has to peel her green peppers before she uses them but I don't know if she has acid reflux. Green peppers are said to have vitamin C in them. Has anyone here tried peeling a green pepper to use it with success?

I would have thought that a raw orange was pretty acidic and was supposed to stay away from them all together in any form? I will have to try the kale. Never have before. Thanks!

According to a list a doctor gave me, oranges have a slightly alkalizing affect on the body:

http://www.healtrabroadoarRAB.com/boarRAB/showthread.php?t=769429

Some fooRAB (meat, most grains, dairy, alcohol, sugar, most nuts) cause the body's ph to go down (i.e., become more acidic). Other fooRAB (mainly most vegetables and fruits) cause the body's ph to go up (i.e, become more alkaline). So even though an orange may be acidic, when it is digested it causes the pH of the body to become more alkaline.

I've had great success eliminating the acid reflux I used to have just by eating alkaline fooRAB such as watermelon, yams/sweet potatoes, onions, cantaloupe, honeydew, broccoli, molasses, and fresh raw green kale.

Note that I've tried dino kale and red kale and those don't seem to work nearly as well for me as fresh, raw green kale.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I WAS going to start a new thread but hopefully others will read this. I had already purchased the vitamin c pills like a dummy before I came on here and decided to take them for the last 2 days now and am in total misery. I won't take anymore. It may be just a fluke, but I'm pretty sure this is what is causing my pain because I am currently dieting and eating EXTREMELY healthy fooRAB and know what to avoid with my acid reflux. I will see in a couple of days I guess and see if I feel better....
