A little about me and then my question(s):
I am 25 years old and have only had 2 partners, the first one of whom I contracted HPV from. I did not find out until over a year later. I have both the genital warts and my gyna told me I had an abnormal pap. I need to call her to see if I have the 16 or 18 strain. The warts won't respond to treatment and so I was told I have to clear them on my own, to which I now use condoms with my current boyfriend. I had another pap 3 months after the first and was told it was clear.
The first time I had sex with my current boyfriend I was unaware at the time that I had HPV and so we did not use a condom (I was on birth control).
I'm reading that there are no tests for men to see if they have HPV, is this true? I've also read that if you have HPV and perform oral sex, there's a risk of developing throat cancer even if you do not drink or smoke (which neither I nor my boyfriend does).
My questions are:
Is it safe for me to perform oral sex on my boyfriend if we don't know if he has the virus or not, since we had unprotected sex a few times before I was diagnosed?
Is it safe for him to perform it on me?
Will it ever be safe for us not to use condoms?
Any and all feedback is appreciated. I've been all over the web trying to find something and I'm not finding the solid answers I hoped I would.
