optometry vs physical therapy questions: edu., military, outlook, etc.?

I would like to go into either optometry or physical therapy, but I have some questions on their education. I understand that the undergraduate courses are relatively related dealing w/ biology, chemistry, physics, math, anatomy, etc. Then further into a specialized school for either optometry or PT. Over all, this including the education after high school (undergraduate, grad. school, etc.), how long does it take to become an optometrist or PT? Which one takes longer? Also, how are the outlooks of these careers in the military? How do they compare?
