It came into my life
foreign and intimidating;
it blinded me and with my
lack of comprehension
my tongue was silenced
the words were
meaningless shapes on the blank pages
of my mind.

My eyes could not see
yet see they did
like I could not tear them from
those pages of wonder, of
potential
when finally those shapes showed true meaning,
true purpose;
a light in the dark of confusion
my eyes were opened,
my eyes were
closed, in a dreamland of new possibilities
and suddenly I saw,
fantastical worlds where
fire breathed like magic
life into the lifeless and colour into that
which had no colour
the fish of the seas swam in the soft skies
the trees grew taller than the mountains
reality had ended and life
as I knew it
had begun.

I was but a student,
learning of the ways in which
the mind could explore the possibilities of
an entire universe
in one solitary sitting;
a farewell voyage of the mind.
