One thing to bear in mind about these surveys that they do with teenagers?

This in reference to news that Abi Titmuss is considered a role model amongst teen girls, is that often people like to take the P when it comes to these surveys.

I remember at school they came around with an official survey that asked us about our sexual and drug habits.

I was 14 and I put.

- Have sex daily.
- Have tried Cocaine, Marijuana and Heroin. No longer on the weed, but the other stuff makes me feel good about myself.

When asked if we would tell our peers about the dangers of drugs, I put 'I would actively encourage them. I feel really good after my first hit.'

Of course I made the whole lot up, but I was 14, what did I care about a government survey. I'd rather take the P.

So take these kind of surveys with the pinch of salt they deserve.

Every generation thinks the next is the worse. Do you really believe our parents thought we were the wonder generation in which we could do no wrong?

As for sexual promiscuity ........ hello??? 1960's anyone??
Emily - I can understand your daughter being that naive, but yourself? If every girl in the class bar your daughter is not a virgin then im a monkeys uncle. Its YOUR job to tell your daughter that they are lying to appear cool to their mates.
Emily - Im really fighting the urge to come back with the childish response of ........... 'well where were they when I was 15???'

For once I take your point dave! However, are you not also interested in how frequently girls are described as 'aspiring model' in the papers - I was thinking about this this morning as another 'aspiring model' has been murdered.

our company has a policy of employing teenagers, on the principle that they know everything

Well done Dave. You must have been a right laugh at school.

However in these enlightened times no one can tell fact from fiction.

And then they accuse people of being obsessed with sex
( actually, who isn't, LOL)

Born in the 60's to one hell of an eccentric mother and retired navy officer, I've turned out to be the craziest sensible person you could ever meet.
or am I?
Don't you just love the anonymity of this place?

Maybe - but I do start to worry when my daughter says she's the only virgin in her class.

h yes, and the other girls say they wish they'd waited ... they're only 15!

Edit: I'm very close to my daughter - she tells me about the pregnancy scares, who is sleeping with whose boyfriend, who got drunk and woke up, knowing she had sex but couldn't remember who with. We've had to buy one girl a pregnancy test kit, took one girl to the family planning clinic and persuaded one girl to tell her mother that she was possibly pregnant.
Don't kid yourself - these girls aren't virgins. They're not boasting.

haha very good point,
i remember doing one about sexual activity, i was a 15yr old virgin in reality, but in my responses i wrote that i liked swinging and orgies and had sex with my cousin on a regular basis, as well as my 7 boyfriends haha :)

Yeh, what's happened, I was about in the 60s and our kids turned out all right on the whole. Your right about every generation thinking the next is the worse, they've been saying that for centuries, then they grow up saying the same about their kids, and the majority of them turn out OK.

Sorry.
Continue to disagree.

Our generation has created a society where people like Jordan, Abi Titmus and Jodie Marsh become rich and famous while displaying their bodies and their lack of talent.

Our generation is responsible for creating a society where looks are everything and 9 year old girls develop eating disorders.

Yes , the aspirations of(some of) today´s youth is pants......but it´s our fault.
