One question... biology?

For a period of time, bacteria were classified as plants. Why do you think bacteria were classified this way? Give at least two reasons why bacteria should not be classified as plants.

1) Plants contain membrane-bound organelles (i.e., chloroplasts), which is common in eukaryotic cells. Bacteria are prokaryotic cells that lack membrane bound organelles.

2) Although both plants and bacteria have a cell wall, they have different composition. PLants have cellulose; bacteria have peptidoglycan.

I think cyanobacteria would be an exception of photosynthetic bacteria.

well... im here to help you!
#1. they should not be classified as plants because they don't have any relationship to plants.
#2. They don't look like plants
#3. Plants are eukaryotic, and Bacteria are prokayrotic.
