Today one of my marble hatchet fish died it was laying on its side and was floating around in the tank. When I looked at its body its fins had been eaten and it seemed to have a red colour in its body could it be blood? I have removed him from the tank but just wondered what I should do now do I need to do a water change? Any ideas on what caused its death?

Do a small water change (about 10%) for 3-4 days, (Making sure you put tap-safe in of course)

After this, try putting some aquarium salt in (Available at pet stores)

I find salt to work better of illness' and diseases than most medicines you can buy, also, it prevents stress, which can cause your fish to become susceptible to diseases.

Also, salt removes a lot of parasites in the tank, helps heal woulds, and is generally all-round Good! =)
