...first person? i'm doing coursework comparing the Wife of Bath and another text (the novel Small Island) and one of my points of comparison is that Small Island is written in 3rd person narrative and Wife of Bath is written in 1st person. In Small Island during sex scenes, the 3rd person is used to show that the narrator is uncomfortable with the experience and is distancing herself from the situation. So in comparison, what effect does delivering the Wife of Baths tale/prologue in first person have? Other than something as simple as showing she is comfortable with her sexuality as that is one of my major essay points.

Thanks! I really appreciate any help...the Wife of Bath is killing me!
