On Project Runway, why do people whisper on the runway judging, instead of just...

...speaking? Does it bother you that the designers don't speak up on the runway during judging? Do they just feel intimidated by the seriousness or something?
 
I hate when they whisper and what not. I always wondered that. I'm like "say something already"! Maybe they feel if they don't say anything, they won't be kicked off but not speaking up just might get them kicked off. I dunno, I love that show though!
